The challenge was to tell a story conveying sensitive emotion into a collage illustration that depicts the true dangers of abuse of power harming children. This illustration was meant to be picked apart for adjustment to fitting in editorial content. The power of the illustration allowed for further cohesive usage to promote the story. This piece carries a heavier weight, confronting an important truth.

The print collage illustration feature was brought to life as a dynamic web experience, featuring an animated hero, drop caps, and custom CSS styling. The story was further promoted through animated social reels on Instagram, highlighting interview moments and showcasing the narrative.

Overall, this story was met with countless numbers of support and enlightenment on this story being told— which many were not made aware of. Today this story, continues to come up as a trending story on D Magazine’s website and marks as a reminder for other victims to share their stories. The true story about Elizabeth Carlock Phillips who continues to advocate for sexual abuse victims and was able to get “Trey’s Law, or HB 748,” passed and goes into effect on September 1, 2025.
